P-38 was the First…

One of our pet peeves here at the P-38 Association is that our favorite warbird never seems to get the respect it deserves among the WWII aircraft.  Whenever a movie or a documentary or a poll is done, somehow the P-38 either doesn’t make the cut or is devalued among the other combat planes.

This short little video does an awesome job of pointing out all the “firsts” of the P-38 as well as so many other pluses that seem to get overlooked by some aviation historians.

This is not to diminish any of the other great American fighters of the war.  Many of them were astonishing, powerful aircraft.  As was the P-38.
