P-38 Association President, Ron Smith, presenting an American flag to Findlay Middle School Principal, David Bechtel (dressed as MacArthur). This flag was flown in a P-38 into Las Vegas for our event.

P-38 Association VP of Special Operations, Bob Alvis, refueling the P-38 for the return trip to Chino, CA.

Two of our Members having a fun time with the cutout designed by Jerri Bergen of Victory Girl.

This beautiful nose-art panel was created by Victory Girl especially to present to the Clifford O. Findlay Middle school, who put in so many hours of work for the special program they created and hosted for our P-38 vets.

Here's a nice shot of the P-38 we brought in for the event. What a great picture of the "youngest generation" of P-38 fans with the "greatest generation" of P-38 pilots, including my dad, Ed Baquet, sitting on the right.

It's also an excellent pic of 23-Skidoo (formerly Porky II), named in honor of P-38 ace P.J. Dahl of the 475th Fighter Sqdn.  We were sweating bullets as to whether the fog in Southern California would clear up enough for her to be flown in from her home base in Chino, and in true dramatic fashion, she just made it in the nick of time, landing in early twilight, thanks to the tenacious efforts of Bob Alvis and the team at Planes of Fame.

Also in the shot are Bob Alvis (standing) and Howard Ramshorn (far right), our Treasurer.  These two guys were responsible for 95% of the organizing and execution of the event -- and both of them got about 12 minutes of sleep during the 5-day set-up and completion.

Special Thanks to our Organizing Committee and all the Volunteers:

Bob Alvis

Howard Ramshorn
